How to add user on Windows 10 (without Microsoft account)

A computer is rarely used alone. Especially in families, it can therefore be useful to create additional users in order to be able to separate the individual work areas and files from each other. However, it is always such a thing with a new user in Microsoft. Because Microsoft would prefer always a registration with mail address and new Microsoft account. The users, however, do not want that. There is the possibility to create a user accordingly, but the function is a bit hidden. Therefore, we would like to explain how to add a user on Windows 10 without registering a Microsoft account or entering any mail address.

Several ways to add a Windows user, but with the same result:

There are many ways to Rome and also to a new user. We have explicitly chosen a way with cmd command. Why? Because this one offers a big hint panel about the advantages and disadvantages of the local and Microsoft account and thus one can also weigh up beforehand. But if you don’t want to do that in any case, it won’t take you much longer to create a new user. However, we find this solution the most elegant.

Step-by-step instructions:

• Type “cmd” in the search bar
• In the command prompt type “control userpasswords2” and press Enter
• A window with user accounts will appear. Click on “Add”
• In the next window at the bottom select “Log on without Microsoft account (not recommended)”
• You will get more information about the account types
• Click on “Local account”
• Enter a name and, if needed, a password. If you leave the password fields empty, no password will be assigned
• Click on Next
• Done!
