Different background on each monitor

Nowadays, it is not uncommon to connect two monitors. This is not only good for working in the home office, but also for watching YouTube videos while gaming. Thanks to modern and powerful graphics cards, it is also possible to connect three or more monitors. However, this also led to a luxury problem in the last few years: namely having different background on each monitor. A workaround in the beginning were two pictures, which were united to an extremely wide screen background, so that the impression arose that it was really still two pictures. Programs were also available to address the problem. Today, Windows 10 itself offers a setting that allows you to set multiple wallpapers separately. So one is only limited by the number of one’s monitors. However, the potential will certainly be expanded in the next few years until every teenager’s room looks like the Wall Street Stock Exchange.

The solution for multiple wallpapers is easy, but it is easy to overlook them:

As mentioned, Windows 10 offers a corresponding solution for the desktop background itself. And everyone has probably seen this when setting a wallpaper. However, the menus of Windows were classically structured in such a way that there was no context menu, i.e. that a right-click did not enable any specific settings. This is different today and thus quickly results in the appropriate solution.

Step-by-step instructions:

  • Go to your desktop in Windows
  • Right-click on the empty space and click on “Personalize”
  • (optional) First search your computer for nice background images
  • The selected images are now presented as “Top5”
  • Right-click on the wallpaper you want to use
  • Choose between
    • Set for all monitors
    • Set for monitor 1
    • Set for monitor 2
  • Done!

So, are you surprised how quickly you can select different wallpapers for your own screens? Often this question might have come up because you are simply not used to Windows settings also having a context menu to offer. In this respect, Microsoft has really evolved and simplified the settings options, since you no longer have to click through countless windows and tabs. One has to be able to praise sometimes! Now we wish you a lot of fun setting hundreds of cool wallpapers for your monitors!
