Thunderbird remove account
We have already shown how to add an email account to Thunderbird in another post. But how can you undo that? How to remove a Thunderbird account if you don’t need the corresponding mail address anymore? Deleting mail addresses in Thunderbird is done quickly if you know where the corresponding function is hiding. We will therefore show you exactly what to do.
Remove Thunderbird email account but keep data?
Thunderbird offers you the possibility to keep data like folder structures or messages on your computer, even if they are no longer displayed in Thunderbird. This can be worthwhile if you want to keep them as a backup or plan to add the mailbox again at some point. So if you intend to do just that, you can just keep saving the data.
- Click on the three bars in the upper right corner and select “Account Settings”
- Select the appropriate mailbox and click on “Account actions” -> “Remove account”
- Decide whether you want to delete or keep the message data and click “Remove”
Only a few steps are necessary to delete an email address in Thunderbird. If you have further questions, please have a look at our other Thunderbird tutorials or ask us on Youtube. We very often produce videos for individual questions of our users!
