Change line spacing in Thunderbird

The large line spacing is a thorn in the side of many Thunderbird users. Therefore, people often look for a way to change this. We have therefore searched for a suitable solution and would now like to show you how to change the line spacing in Thunderbird. First of all we would like to mention that Mozilla provides only few possibilities for adjustments. Nevertheless, there is a quite simple solution that leads to an acceptable result.

Temporary or permanent solution:

The solution we offer you for this problem can either be set for each mail individually or change the default settings for it. Since we don’t know which option is best for you, we will of course explain both. So you can decide for yourself how you can best use the small Work Around for you!

Step-by-step instructions:

Temporary solution:

  • Open Thunderbird
  • Click on “Composition” and write your mail
  • Highlight the text
  • Select the “Paragraph” field above the message block and set it to “Body Text”
  • Done!

Permanent solution:

  • Click on the three bars in the upper right corner of Thunderbird
  • Select “Settings”
  • Switch to the “Compose” tab
  • Go to the “HTML Style” section
  • Uncheck “Use paragraph format instead of Body Text”
  • Done!

With just a few clicks, you can achieve a very good result in Thunderbird, even if we think that the whole thing could definitely have more setting options. Nevertheless, we are satisfied even with the small Work Around and hope that it is also sufficient for you. If you liked the tutorial, please visit us on Youtube!
