In PowerPoint presentations, precision is not uncommon. Elements need to be aligned or perhaps symmetrical. In such cases, it can be helpful to be able to measure and compare distances. This is where the ruler in PowerPoint can help you. But how to show the ruler in Powerpoint? And how do you turn it off again if you don’t need it anymore? We have the answers to all these questions. So nothing stands in the way of your successful and, above all, accurate work.
Vertical and horizontal ruler separated from each other via settings:
Even though we will show you how to insert the ruler in a moment, you should know that there are differences between the vertical and the horizontal ruler. The vertical ruler can be completely disabled in the settings. So in some cases it is necessary to set both options correctly so that you can work with it.
- Open PowerPoint
- Switch to the tab “View”
- In the group “Show” you will find the ruler. Set a check mark
If the vertical ruler is not displayed, make this setting:
- Switch to the “File” tab and click on “Options”
- Select the “Advanced” tab and scroll down to the “Display” section
- Check the “Show vertical ruler” box
It doesn’t matter if you only need one or both settings – if you know what to do, this process won’t take a whole minute. But that’s exactly why we wanted to offer you this tutorial, because this way you don’t have to search for the right options yourself. And now we wish you a lot of fun with your very detailed way of working!
