How to show ruler in Word
For some projects it is necessary to keep the exact dimensions of text blocks or images. For this purpose, it can be worthwhile to display a ruler in Word, so that this can be done even more easily. But where exactly is this function located? We will show you how to show ruler in Word and in this way increase the accuracy of your work even more. In addition, we have a tip for you if the vertical ruler is not displayed, since a separate setting is available for this.
Vertical ruler not present in Word – what to do?
The horizontal and vertical rulers in Word may be separated from each other. This could be because the vertical ruler is needed less often and therefore only needs to be turned on when needed. At least that is our approach when it comes to understanding this setting option. In any case, there is no need to worry because the function for a vertical ruler is available in any case.
- Start Microsoft Word
- Switch to the “View” tab
- Set a check mark in the group “Display” at “Ruler”
This way you can turn on the vertical ruler in Word if it didn’t happen automatically:
- Click on “File”
- Select “Options” and switch to the “Advanced” tab
- Scroll down to the “Display” section
- Activate the option “Show vertical ruler in print layout view”
- Click on “OK”
All in all, the suitable setting does not take more than a minute, even if not both rulers are displayed at the beginning. However, once you know the functions, you should have no problems with this in the future. We hope that this tutorial has helped you.
