Export Chrome Bookmarks

Google Chrome is one of the most popular and fastest browsers. Therefore, it is understandable if you want to use it on multiple computers. But what about your own bookmarks? Today we want to take a look at how you can export your Chrome bookmarks so that you can transfer them to another computer. The procedure is quite simple, if the setting for exporting the Chrome bookmarks would not be so hidden. We will now show you how to do it in just a few seconds.

Export bookmarks from Chrome. Here’s what you should keep in mind:

Exporting and importing bookmarks in Chrome is very simple. The question is whether you only need to do this once or whether you should do it at regular intervals so that the bookmarks are identical. If you are setting up a new computer and only want to export bookmarks once, this tutorial is exactly the right address. If, on the other hand, you want to synchronize your bookmarks constantly, you should use a different technique, which is fortunately provided directly by Google Chrome. This is the synchronization, for which you only need to register an account in Google Chrome.

Step-by-step instructions:

  • Open Google Chrome and click on the 3 dots in the upper right corner
  • Select “Bookmarks” -> “Bookmark Manager
  • In the blue ribbon go to the three dots again and choose “Export bookmarks”
  • Save the HTML file on a storage medium (e.g. USB stick)
  • Load the file on the next computer and go the same way in the Chrome menu
  • But now click “Import bookmarks” and find the HTML file
  • Click OK
  • Done!

As you can see, the procedure to import bookmarks in Chrome is very simple. As mentioned before, you should find out for yourself if you want to export the bookmarks or if synchronization doesn’t make more sense. Especially if you have multiple workstations, synchronizing your bookmarks in Chrome can definitely be worthwhile, as you can save time and effort this way. By the way, we have explained in more detail how exactly this works in the video tutorial.
