Firefox Export Password
If you are about to move computers or simply want to back up data, you might also ask yourself how to export a Firefox password. Because these are all stored securely, but are not easily displayed to you. However, displaying passwords stored in Firefox and exporting them is quite easy if you know where the corresponding function is located. We would like to show you what you have to do in order to save your passwords and what problems you might encounter.
This is how you can view and export passwords in Firefox:
The first step to exporting already leads you to an overview where you can view all passwords. All you have to do is go to the “Login and Passwords” tab and you can look up passwords that you were perhaps no longer sure exactly how they were. From there it is not far to the export of the respective data.
Step-by-step instructions:
- Open Firefox
- Click on the three bars in the upper right corner and select “Login and passwords”
- Click in the new window also on the top right on the three dots and “Export Logins”
- Confirm the warning
- If your computer is password protected, you have to enter the password now
- Choose a place to save the data
- Done!
You can’t import the file again? Then the import is disabled in the settings. Here’s how to change that:
- Type “about:config” in the address line of Firefox
- Confirm the warning
- Enter the following into the search bar: signon.management.page.fileImport.enabled
- The entry should be set to “false”. With a double click you set it to “true”
- Return to the Login and passwords
- Click on the three dots again and now on “Import from a File”
- Done!
As you can see, exporting passwords is quite simple, and even if you have problems importing Firefox passwords from a file, there is a quick and easy solution. We hope to have helped you with this tutorial and now wish you good luck with moving your data!
