Audacity Keyboard Shortcuts
Anyone who works a lot with Audacity will be able to understand that you want to save yourself as much work as possible. A lot of time is often lost navigating to the right effects. Therefore, we would like to show you how you can set keyboard shortcuts in Audacity itself, so that you can save yourself the navigation and directly use the effect by pressing a key. Over longer projects you can save a lot of time and nerves and we also use this for some effects that we use frequently.
Using shortcuts in Audacity is a snap:
Audacity offers all the necessary settings for shortcuts. In a separate area, a shortcut can be stored for each effect or other tasks, so that even as a beginner you should have no problems to set this appropriately. Once you know how to set a keyboard shortcut for an effect, you won’t forget it in the future.
- First remember the exact name of the desired function or effect (this saves time when searching)
- Click on “Edit” -> Settings
- Switch to the “Keyboard” section
- Enter the name of the effect in the search and select the effect in the list
- At the bottom you can now enter the desired shortcut into the field and by “Set” it will be set
- Press OK
So adding a shortcut to Audacity won’t take a minute if you know the exact name of the effect. It’s definitely worth investing these steps, because you’ll save a lot of time in the future and it feels great when editing is much faster.
